With St. Joseph’s upgrade to the victor video management system and installation of Illustra IP cameras and VideoEdge servers, the hospital’s surveillance system will be integrated in one management platform across the health network’s three major hospital sites. With advanced reporting capabilities and increased image precision, the victor video management system incorporates both new IP cameras and existing analog cameras, giving St. Joseph’s the flexibility to prioritize upgrades of legacy equipment over time.
“This project has optimized our camera system, giving us much better security overall,” said Mike Bessegato, Director, Fire & Security Services at St. Joseph’s Health Care London. “The victor platform brings us immediate playback with no latency in our real-time viewing, so our guards can react to events faster.” In addition, higher resolution allows the organization to capture clearer images, such as facial features and license plates, which can be sent to other security personnel or first responders.
Along with its integrator partner of more than 20 years, Integrated Video & Surveillance Inc., London, Ontario, St. Joseph’s began installing new Illustra IP cameras in one of the hospital’s recent wing additions, in addition to upgrading some of its 600 existing cameras to Illustra IP models. The organization chose Illustra fisheye cameras to give St. Joseph’s a 360-degree view in corridor intersections and other strategic locations, increasing square footage and angle coverage using fewer cameras. In addition, the victor video management system allows St. Joseph’s to harness the full capabilities of its surveillance system with sophisticated analytics and faster video playback.
